She Gave Herself Permission — poem by Alexandra Gold

She Gave Herself Permission

She Gave Herself Permission

She decided to let go
Of herself
She surrendered
Into the pit of divinity
Slow falling
Graceful
With fear, yes
But trusting
Supported
She gave herself permission

She closed her eyes
Scared of the free fall
Then once she could not hold them tight
They opened up to see the beauty
Naturally restored her sight

Looking round she saw the wonder
Lavished with the pure delight
How could she have missed the pleasure?
Why did she wait until tonight?

Taking in the lush surroundings
Taking in the peace within
She sat with awe at all the splendour
Permission given, rained delight

She looked into the pool of laughter
Reflection dancing in the light
And saw that in herself the answers
Were delectable and right

She wanted more
And gave herself up
Resting back on what she’d seen
Permission granted she had driven
Herself crazy from within

Opening her heart to blossom
Never ending beginnings
She gave herself the chance to live life fully
Open, free, surrendering

No more saying no to her loves
No more staying small and dim
She gave herself permission further
She gave herself up to the brim
