She Cleanses Her Soul — poem by Alexandra Gold

She Cleanses Her Soul

She Cleanses Her Soul

The Atonement

Suffering
Pain
Sins that remain
I cleanse by atonement
I cleanse to regain

My sacred self, freedom
To release
To begin
To live out my true path
Casting fear from within

I invite divine goodness
To fill up my heart
To forgive my transgressions
For to make a fresh start

To amend that which I can do
And accept that which I can’t
To learn from all hardship
To let wisdom impart

To let go of my suffering
My guilt and my shame
My thoughts of wrongdoers
And those that I blame

I pray for permission
Divine spirit within
To release me from suffering
To wash myself clean

I am truly sorry
For all that I do wrong
And beseech the forgiveness
Of all and within

I release any anger
Or judgment I hold
For my own flaws are perfect
And humility gold

From this moment forward
I promise to try
To follow the right path
And fill up with the light
