The realisation
Came
A dull
Whisper
No spark this time
I had been given everything I needed
I had everything I wanted
That for which I felt unready was thrown at my feet
There were two paths to choose from
No magic pills
Just magic reality
The symptoms analysed
The desired outcome foreseen
The prescription written
Will I follow it!
Nothing to lose
I know who I am, what I need,
That I am the proverbial Phoenix
Should I choose to rise
Or I could just become dust and conform
I cannot unlearn but I could choose to remain silent
Behind the scenes
One of many, lost in the crowd
I cannot unlearn though
So I must don my courage
If I am to live without regrets
If I am to share what I have been given
As much as I crave the sanctity and comfort of invisibility
The spark that lays dormant requires acknowledgment
I have to seek the embers through the haze of darkness
And then, and only then
Shall my fire ignite
