She saw the disdain
Written as an untruthful smile on your face
Dismissing
Condescending
Pretending to believe her
She used to listen
To the unspoken words that you portrayed
Looking down at her
Laughing
Thinking that she couldn’t do it
She used to cower
Trusting that your perception was more worthy
Than what she knew
Excruciating
Diminishing her light more so again
And then she realised
That she was not the only one who was in pain
That she was not the only one to cry
That she was not the only one to notice
That she was not the only one to hide
So she found strength
So tired of keeping herself under wraps
So tired of being driven to the shadows
So tired of being unheard in the spotlight
So tired of being covered by her name
She started trusting
Trusting that her thoughts and feelings mattered
That she was worthy
Unique
Lighting up she started a new day
She started moving
Finding her own rhythm in the dance
Her own music
Harmony
Walking her own path in her own way
She started loving
Knowing that from love there comes more passion
Nothing can diminish her own light now
Shining brightly
Sharing her own wisdom come what may
Believing
Herself and from that place there comes a power
To fuel her purpose and to share
The happiness and confidence she’s feeling
With you and show you nothing got in her way
And now she sees you
She will not be the one to say ‘you see’
She will not be the one to get one over
For believing she knows that love will set her free
