She Is Empowered
She stands up tall.
Her jaw set, determined.
Her posture is her own and yet she demands attention.
You look.
You want what she has.
What is it?
She sees you and smiles.
Her look kind, helpful.
Her presence is profound and she owns it.
You look again.
You want what she has.
What is it?
Something catches her eye.
She leans back, laughing.
Her joy is infectious and she shares it with you.
You laugh.
You want what she has.
She gives it.
She starts to speak.
Her voice clear, compelling.
Her story is powerful and yet her vulnerability is naked.
You listen.
You want to do what she does.
She shares it.
She leaves the room gracefully.
She looks back, knowing.
Her vision entrenched in the scent she leaves behind.
You watch.
You want to do that too.
She will show you.
Who is She?
What is her secret?
The unasked questions touching lips around her.
What does she have?
The yearning felt deep in the souls of those present.
Where can I get it?
The seekers writhe to get the treasure she holds.
How does she do it?
The green room is filling rapidly and yet,
They know that if they ask she will answer so they
Play games with their pride and muster the courage to approach her.
They hurry.
Who are you? They ask her.
"I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend.
I am a girl, a lover, a rascal, a fiend.
I am gracious and kind, compassionate too
I am happy with me though and happy with you."
What is your secret? She throws her head, wild,
Laughing and smiling, incredibly kind.
"My secret is that I just couldn't compete
With you or with her,
So I had to be me."
What do you have? She looks seriously, straight.
I have what I was born with, with a little bit more
Of courage, of pain and of things I adore
I chose to be happy, be peaceful, be free
And live from the beauty that lives inside me.
Where can I get it? She holds her hand to her breast.
"Inside you will find all the strength that you need
Although there are times when it is too hard to see
You must fill up yourself first, fill up your cup
The secret is yours, beauty yours to fill up."
How did you do it? Her sadness shows in her eyes.
"Through hard times and suffering
Through learning and pain.
Through getting my self back,
Beginning again.
I took what I had,
Where I was,
Just as me.
I determined the journey
To set myself free.
I thought of those things
That light up my world.
And gave them permission
To fill daily my soul.
I thought of those things
That I could really do
To make the world better,
For me and for you.
I became devoted to love and to live
The best life I could
To receive and to give.
The balance I found,
A journey itself,
Has led to my being
My most peaceful self.
I know that my best work
Can only be shared
When I have fun, creating
New ways to be there.
It took lots of courage,
Motivation and will
But in the end
I got there and
I promise,
You will."
