She Saves Lives — poem by Alexandra Gold

She Saves Lives

She Saves Lives

She never thought she could
She never ever thought she would
She didn’t even consider that anyone would ever listen
To Her

She was lost and thought she was the only one
The only one to feel the pain, the heartache,
The only one not good enough
The only one to make so many mistakes
To keep on making them

The conflict, the angst, crazy and cruel
What was she here for?
What could she do?
She made up excuses
She listened to lies
She wrote off her future
Inside her, she died

Then one day she started
To feel something new
A murmur inside her
A feeling that grew

She looked at this feeling
And took heed in time
A thread of excitement
Beginning to find

With deep contemplation
With wide open mind
With courage, conviction
She needed to find

As she had seen others
Far worse off than she
Who needed her wisdom
And kindness to see

That they too were worthy
And they needed to find
That they were abundant
Were one of a kind

So she wrote down her story
She told her own truths
The freedom it gave her
As much as is soothed

She started to find that
The truth that she shared
Gave comfort and hope to
Others needing her word

She taught from her own heart
She taught peace inside
From sharing her secrets
Of life when unkind

Shocked, truly thankful
Through fear and shame
She gave back life to the others
Who needed the same

She realised the cycle
Of give to receive
Was true and still valid
Her love to perceive

Look deep inside you
Look love in the eye
Open your own door
Then you can save lives
