She Works Hard, She Plays Hard — poem by Alexandra Gold

She Works Hard, She Plays Hard

She Works Hard, She Plays Hard

She makes no excuses
She thinks and she dances
And sometimes romances
She does and she doesn’t
When time is dictating
She listens, observes
Knows there’s no time for waiting

She lives in the now
With the hope of tomorrow
Living her life and supporting her dreams
She makes her world better as much as she’s able
And seeks to see more
Throws her cards on the table

You get what you see
She is doing her best
She still makes mistakes
But doesn’t live with regrets
She picks herself up
She dusts herself down
She puts on her glad rags
And goes paint the town

Again she gets up
And does what she can
But living a lie
Is not part of the plan
Not living her best life a sadness
So she took all her courage
And takes all she can get

The truth is she lives life
In all of its glory
Giving time for reflection
And living the dream
She needs to have balance
In life to keep moving
She needs to be real
To fill up her cup

She works hard
On days when she needs to do her thing
She plays hard
On days when she has room to breathe
The harmony comes when her need for creation
Is balanced with taking the risks life reveals

She works hard, she plays hard
She makes no excuses
She gives and receives for her daily needs
The freedom she gets now she uses all chances
She passes to others for them to be free
