She Listens — poem by Alexandra Gold

She Listens

She Listens

Quiet surrounding
Quiet within
There is a place
Where she can listen

Listen to her heart
Listen to her mind
Listen to the answers
That she must try to find

She doesn’t have to hurry
She doesn’t have to wait
She only has to listen
And trust that all is great

She feels a kind of knowing
She feels a kind of safe
When she listens most intently
Ethereal escape

Sometimes it might be noisy
Surrounding her with life
But her power to listen closely
Cuts the din just like a knife

Sometimes the quiet layers
Of time stood still as rock
Give rise to precious moments
When earth and spirit lock

Her heartbeat like a murmur
Her heartbeat pounding strong
She listens to the rhythm
She listens to the song

For if she listens closely
She knows that she will hear
The answers to those questions
That help her make life clear

She listens to her wanting
She listens to her needs
She listens to her body
She listens so to feed

She listens for solutions
The questions she must ask
The thoughts that she must muster
In order to take task

She listens for the comfort
She listens for the hope
She listens for the future
She listens just to cope

She listens to get stronger
She listens to learn more
She listens to the story
For her to share to all

She doesn’t have to hurry
She doesn’t have to wait
She only has to listen
And trust that all is great
