Apathy and Anarchy
Live together for those who feed their greed
Divide and conquer they know they will succeed
Disharmony or unity - what path will you lead?
The world it is wild and not in a good way
But I can't let that stop me from having a good day
The people are angry and tensions run high
Well that's all because they have no reason why
Whilst those who make terror have something to live for
Radically brainwashed that's what they give for
Wearing old-fashioned lies and ideas that are pitiful
Deceiving themselves that their God is less sinful
Wrapping themselves in doctrine and hatred
They make sense of it all like it is something sacred
Festering danger through dogma, deception
The fear they are spreading through evil perceptions
And what are we doing to combat this evil
Sitting in glasshouses, throwing stones at the people
Through TV and Facebook and Snapchat and Twitter
Our venomous poison is making us bitter
Our freedom descending into chaos, distractions
Hell bent on blaming and slaying the actions
Of others who really have no power to know
What we need as humanity for our freedom to grow
Opinions and arguments, violence and rage
Are the only things taking our centre stage
Whilst the rich and the powerful sit back and watch
And laugh at us whilst we adhere to their plot
Fragments of humans who all think that they're right
Dividing in numbers so there's less of a fight
When tragedy hits us, we'll not know what to do
Because we can't ask our neighbours, they hate us now too
Liberty held by a thread of integrity
Clinging together by those left with sanity
Courageous yet slated for all that they do
Until their darkest predictions manifest to be true
Why do we wait until our worst nightmares come true?
Why do we let those do harm and not good?
Comfort and apathy are our worst enemies
Whilst we're watching the TV and fuelling the greed
We cannot dismiss ourselves powerless, meek
When we are doing nothing but accepting defeat
What will it take for us each one and all
To help one another, find solutions for all?
So what is the answer to this long lament
To try to evolve and make evil repent
There are no magic bullets, no magic pens
But the answer won't come with violent dissent
It comes from each one of us making a vow
To finding ourselves out and then reasoning how
With critical thinking, solutions to find
We each have the power to use our own mind
The questions you ask and you answer yourself
Should begin with the truth and never exempt
Empathy, kindness and thinking that if
That were your child would you be happy with it
Your parents, your brothers, your sisters and friends
Should each have the same rights and freedoms to fend
It will not be easy, it will not be quick
But at least you'll be part of the world that tries it
Your purpose in life is yours to decide
Not to dictate, oppress or try deny
Others their freedom or their liberty
Comes from you finding out what, where and how you're happy
What are your values, your wants and your needs?
Clarity's king in this world of disease
For once you know just who you are, what you stand for
The path you must walk will be passion and action
Shedding outdated beliefs and old doctrines
Gives you the space to think, to try and take action
Enlighten yourself every day, every hour
And your path becomes clearer, purpose your superpower
We each can decide what our future will hold
If we choose that together our stories be told
Those of the past so that we do not forget
And visions creating our paths distant yet
You can choose to do nothing and accept what may be
Or you choose to be part of the anarchy
Freedom and love and compassion for all
Are ours if we make it- have you felt the call?
