She Struggles

She Struggles
Behind all the laughter
Behind all the smiles
There are times when she struggles
The demons inside
Crafty and wily
They creep up to find
A place in her body
Taking over her mind
Unworthy, uncertain
Unhappy, unkind
The struggles she faces
When demons do cry
Is she too gentle?
Is she too fierce?
Is she too ugly?
Is she a disgrace?
Feeling sick to her stomach
All she wants is to hide
From the world and those in it
From herself and her mind
With no rhyme nor reason
These feelings descend
Shattering her world
Unsettled again
Seeking a safe place
Comfort and care
From those understanding
With those who've been there

Although in her own world
She knows there are those
Who know what she's going through
Who won't condescend
From the pit of her stomach
With her heart in her mouth
There is nothing to quell
All her feelings of doubt
Deep shame takes over
The guilt, overwhelm
She tries not to share
Her demons to tell
In times they get shorter
These struggles she has
They don't last forever
In time not so bad
So if you do struggle
With demons as well
Remember there's others
That know of your hell
Don't ever feel alone
Don't ever give up
You're needed, you're wanted
You are enough
Although there are moments
Some more than you can bear
There are those who are waiting
Your struggles to share
