She Walked Away
One day she knew the time had come
To walk away from all she had
From all she was and all she’d known
She understood that she had grown
It wasn't loud, it wasn't swift
But it was sure for she felt it
The reality that was her life
No longer fit, it wasn't right
She made a pact
To make her move
She made a plan
Her path to smooth
Taking only what she needed
In herself her trust was heeded
Finding strength her life to make
Her dreams come true for her own sake
No longer could she live a lie
Pretend to love that which made her cry
She'd done her time, she'd made it through
And in that space her true self grew
To see with eyes that were not dimmed
With fake truths and promises
To hear the lies and declaration
The blame, deceit in conversation
She'd seen rage in all its glory
Covered with another story
No longer could she bear to make
Excuses up for heavens sake
She took the steps, resolved to make
Her heart, her mind, her power take
For this was hers this life these chances
She made her move, no furtive glances
Her heart it pounded, her breath she held
With her mind made up, she ran like hell
Brave enough to not look back
She kept on going, this was her new track
As she ran, her smile appeared
Her heavy heart disappeared
Her head held high, her laugh began
And kept on laughing the more she ran
She stopped to rest and started dreaming
Of what she wanted, of what was pleasing
Deciding then herself to make
A life secure for her own sake
She knew she had the strength, right then
To make it happen, Begin again
She took a pen and paper handy
And drew a map of what her plan be
Of all that which she longed to see
Of how and who and what she'd be
Of what she'd do and where she'd go
Her own life - her own seeds sow
She walked away
The courage taken
Now life was hers
For her creation
